Mom Spill: Dry Skin Go Away
If you have skin like myself and little princess, then you know that winter is just not our friend. I have very sensitive skin and suffer from frequent bouts of eczema outbreaks. As much as I wanted little princess to come out looking like me and to have features of her daddy, unfortunately she came out looking like daddy with features like me, including sensitive skin.
Since she was born we've battled with different lotions, creams, and bath soaps that would fit perfectly with her skin. Now let me just say that her doctor has prescribed a steroid cream, but I have made the choice to discontinue the use of the prescription. I've had my share with the prescriptions for eczema, which included me being up all night because the medicine made it worse! I just think that I would rather go an easier route than to deal with an itchy scratchy three year old. Behold, after mixing lotion with Vaseline for a while only to find it to not work, I have found the genius of Aveeno's lotion specifically for eczema.
I'll pause here to say that I am in no way being sponsored nor paid by Aveeno to give my honest review. However, I am writing this from one mommy to another because I know what I went through to get little princess's skin to clear without it being even more irritated. To be more specific I use Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. This wonderful relief does not come without a cost. I paid about $9 for it at my local Walmart, but after doing a little price comparisons, I believe that it may be a tad bit cheaper at Target. I'm definitely willing to spend that much for some lifesaving relief.
When little princess has her outbreaks, it usually appears all over her abdominal area, on her legs, thighs, arms, and buttocks. She becomes an itchy mess complaining of "My tummy is scratchy." These patches are very scaly! We just so happened to take her to the doctor for her 3 year check up when she was having an outbreak, and her doctor suggested everything BUT Aveeno.
This lotion works wonders with just a dab. You don't have to squirt half the bottle in order to get good coverage. I usually use about a quarter sized amount to cover her body. So I guess that $9 isn't so bad after all. Did I mention that it's fragrance free? Indeed it is. My sweet little princess says that it smells like nothing. To me, I think that it smells like plain oatmeal.
OVERALL, I definitely recommend this product to all my mom friends who are enduring the dry itchy eczema outbreaks along with their little ones. It may be a little costly, but it is worth every single penny! Now go attack eczema full force! ENJOY :)
